Visual Field is a creative practice working at the intersection of research, facilitation, storytelling, and systems thinking.
It supports organisations, teams, and communities in making complex ideas visible, accessible, and actionable through visualisation and collaboration.
Hi, I’m Catalina!
I am an urban strategist with roots in architecture and I have a passion for storytelling that connects people, places, and purpose.
My path to this work grew out of a mix of curiosity and frustration — seeing how much knowledge and effort go into projects, yet how often their insights are lost in complexity or diluted by trends that miss the deeper purpose.
Over time, I realised that what truly drives me is helping people see the connections — between ideas, systems, and actions. I’m naturally inclined to synthesise, to find meaning in patterns, and to bring coherence to complexity. I believe that systemic thinking and creative communication are essential to navigate today’s interconnected challenges — whether in cities, communities, organisations, or teams.
I’m not interested in creating visuals that aremerely beautiful, but in crafting tools and outputs that will be useful, bringing clarity, alignment, and real value to the everyday.
My topics of work and research are related to urban and strategic planning, sustainability, and just climate action.
This is what I can do for you…
Visual Facilitation
When teams work on complex topics, it can be difficult to keep a shared understanding. Visual facilitation supports workshops and meetings by making ideas visible as they are discussed. I prepare and facilitate sessions, helping structure conversations and translate them into visual outputs that support clarity, alignment, and collaboration.
Illustrations and Visual Summaries
Reports and strategies often contain valuable insights, but they are not always easy to understand or communicate. I create visual summaries and illustrations that translate complex or technical content into clear and accessible formats, helping key messages remain visible and easier to engage with.
Graphic Recording
Graphic recording captures conversations in real time during workshops, conferences, or meetings. I listen, synthesise, and translate discussions into visual narratives, making ideas easier to follow, remember, and share with others.
These methods support both applied work with organisations and an ongoing exploration of how visual practices can help understand and communicate complex systems.
Visual mapping
Projects and processes often involve multiple elements that are difficult to see as a whole. Visual mapping helps make these relationships visible by showing connections, flows, and structures. I support teams in organising and visualising their work so they can better understand systems, align their actions, and move forward with clarity.
Alongside applied work, Visual Field is also a space for exploration. Through drawing and visual experimentation, it reflects an ongoing interest in how spatial, environmental, and relational systems can be observed, interpreted, and communicated. This practice engages with questions of perception, narrative, and how visual methods can help reveal connections that are not immediately visible.
